Sword Art Online's third season is
finally upon us. The laicization arc has been long-awaited by people like me,
who have read the whole arc via the sunshine novels. to place it in
perspective, the primary two seasons of the show was covered in books 1 - 9;
laicization is books 10 - 18. So, there's tons of content.
The series does a touch of a reset on
the story within the beginning. we've some back story of child Kirito twiddling
with two other kids, Eugeo and Alice. This, we discover out, is him testing out
a replacement full dive technology that's indistinguishable from the real world.
After being attacked by the third perp of the death gun incident, he's rushed
to the hospital. the subsequent thing he knows, Kirito awakes within the virtual
world, referred to as the Underworld.
Things slowly get explained as Kirito
puts his problem-solving skills to the test on the within, and Asuna flashes
some detective skills on the surface. the important question is, what's the
Underworld, and why does it exist? you discover out, eventually, also because of
the beginning of corruption within the Underworld.
So far, how does it compare to the
sunshine novels?
Pretty good, actually.
The first few episodes of the show do
an excellent job of following the sunshine novels nearly perfectly. All of the
important building parts are present, and it's truly amazing seeing the
characters I examine come to life in animation.
Now some parts get cut
out, that I do not really accept as true with. Through the primary six
episodes, I counted two major scenes that ought to of been included, that
weren't. These scenes were major for character development; one for Kirito, and
therefore the other for Eugeo. The more important scene was for Eugeo, since
he's a more modern character and that we can always use some more buildings.
Then episode 7 happened.
Episode 7 threw the great pacing to
the wind and rushed through a few half a book's worths of fabric, which I don't
like. We get a flashback that covers Kirito and Eugeo's journey to becoming
students at Swordcraft Academy, but it had been really much deeper than simply
a flashback. They also rush Kirito and his mentor's relationship, which is
extremely sad, especially since she comes back later, and it would've helped to
develop their relationship further.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with
how the anime is playing out. In the end, the book is nearly always better
than the anime or movie, so I can not complain about an excessive amount of. The
animation is completely gorgeous, and I am enjoying seeing the story reveal
itself before my eyes.
Thanks for reading.
